"Auto adjust colors" is also a nice feature. Once you're done with options, you just close this Advanced window and select the "Start batch" button and Irfanview will process all pictures. you can for example use this to select a bunch of pictures that you shot using the camera in vertical position and then use the "Rotate right" or "Rotate left" to rotate them to the proper way they're supposed to be viewed. Also, the "Don't enlarge smaller images" is checked, so if one of the images in queue is smaller, there's no resizing. since "preserve aspect ratio" is checked, the other dimension will be automatically calculated. Then go to File > Save as, If it's a screen shot / schematic, something with text or something you want to retain sharpness, select PNG at file format, and at compression level use 9 for best. usually this is enough for forums and most of the details are preserved. Go to "Set New Size" and set the largest dimensions of the pictures to a reasonable value like 1600 pixels. Check Resample and use Lanczos for best resize quality. Open image in Irfanview, go to Image > Resize / Resample : Check Preserve Aspect Ratio so that when resizing the width/height ratio remains the same. use a freeware software like Irfanview to resize your pictures and compress them to a reasonable size, cameras don't use the highest compression settings when saving to reduce battery usage. a bit larger and it would have been rejected. It says right there under the attachment box : Restrictions: 25 per post, maximum total size 2000KB, maximum individual size 1000KB.
